Information You Send
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered in a search form are sent to the outside provider that operates the results service. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most hosted services, the site may receive ordinary server-log data such as an IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. We review it in aggregate for reliability and usage patterns. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, if used, advertising measurement.
How Data Is Used
We use limited technical data to operate the service, resolve problems, measure traffic, and improve reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services
Rome pages link to county and state portals, court systems, libraries, archives, and search providers. Those services control their own forms, pricing, and privacy practices. Their notices, rather than this policy, govern information entered after leaving this site, including sponsored search results.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process server logs for us. Analytics or advertising providers may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when a valid legal process requires disclosure or as otherwise allowed by law.
Data Security
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Because there are no site accounts, the site does not hold a visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data held by a website. The research used for Rome found no enacted comprehensive New York consumer privacy or data-broker statute to cite as a statewide removal right. Because this service keeps little data, requests usually involve a review of the contact mailbox and available logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by New York, Oneida County, or Rome offices are outside our control and must be addressed to their custodian.
Policy Revisions
A revised policy will be posted here. Continued use after publication means the revised policy applies going forward.
